Our Team

I am a heading

We believe that important issues require creativity and imagination to make an impact.

We have shaped our expertise through decades of collective experience. We craft award-winning campaigns and projects in partnership with leading organizations and purpose-driven brands on the forefront of change.

We cultivate collective success.

From the beginning, we dreamed of disrupting “business as usual.” We don’t simply talk about our values of courage, compassion, and equity – we live them. Our team shows up to do the work every day with a personal commitment and connection. Everything we do, every detail, is created with intention.

Our values are rooted in impact.

So with every partnership, we invest our dollars where it matters most. Whether that’s BIPOC, women, immigrants, formerly incarcerated, or locally owned businesses–we know impact happens when purpose-driven organizations + brands invest at the frontlines of change.

Philosophy

courage

COURAGE

We challenge conventional thinking.
We hold fast to our belief in a better world –  we show up as creators and solvers, tackling interesting, complex challenges with imagination.

COMPASSION

Empathy leads to action.
Thoughtful creative work tells stories that inspire the people behind the policies, programs, donations, and beyond to make change.

EQUITY

A better world requires intention.
As a worker-owned business, we strive to model a system of equity where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Values

compassion

we only make work that we believe in.

Soze was co-founded in 2014 by Jamila El Sahili, Daniel Leon-Davis, Paola Mendoza, Michelle Minguez, Michael Skolnik and Daveen Trentman. Together, they pursued creative work that was often audacious and always in pursuit of a more equitable world.

In doing the work, they dreamed of building a business that put people first, allowed creativity to flourish, and always would do work that they believed in. This has manifested over the years in all permutations of Soze – working with over 1,000 artists and hundreds of clients – but especially so when the company transitioned to becoming workers-owned in 2021.

Across it all, our name. “Soze” means “never again” in Zulu, and is the birth name of George Soze Vilakati, a personal icon of one of our co-founders who passed away suddenly in 2000. Wherever he is, we hope he’s smiling upon us all.

History

ONE TEAM,
SHARED DREAMS.

Our personal histories, experiences, and interests underline the empathy that we know is vital to creative work for social impact.
